How does a man get to the point where he can respond more constructively in those critical moments that make all the difference? Theorize all you want, but when you get triggered, what are you going to do? It’s one thing to learn new responses, and it’s another thing altogether to find the empowering thing to say in the moment or not say the thing that will drive the other person away. Men, do not underestimate the power of practice! Please. Everything depends on your ability to improvise and make up on the spot what you say to your wife or your son or daughter. Will it create aliveness and options or shut the other person down? Your words are powerful.
